kat andersonKat Anderson – started painting at a very young age, which was her way of coping with emotions and feelings that she could not understand. Kat realized it to be a way of healing, since she felt better after every drawing. Later, she started to express the impressions you see and feel through abstract art.“The main reason I continue to create art is to hopefully provoke feelings that bring joy to those who see each piece. My belief is that we can heal the world through art or the arts.” Each piece takes a little over a week to create. Kat uses acrylic and mixed media, basically anything she can get her hands on to create with. “If you look within the paintings you can see figures, faces, animals, etc. These are not intentional. They just appear which is so fascinating to me”.

bobby j wysocki Bobby J Wysocki – Vegas Native, always looking for magical people, places and art. “I paint, I write, I paint some more, read enough to keep the mind fresh. Garden, paint, draw and make a huge mess, clean it up, make another mess, painting. I go to First Fridays at The Arts Factory, smile as much as possible, it helps others smile, oh did i mention I paint? Jam at The Arts Factory patio…if you haven’t been down to the Arts District to witness Vegas culture….then you are just a tourist that lives here. A promise: by the end of the summer heat wave I will have most of the pictures “of my art” detailed with description and in story board fashion. cuz there is a story there.” Colors seem to flow from Bobby’s fingertips, images of landscapes, portraits and the iconic, all done it a way that is exclusively Bobby J. Wysocki, from captivating to the whimsical; unique.

roman alexeiRoman Alexei – was encouraged by his educator parents to follow his creative impulses to explore and develop his love of the arts. Roman possesses a deep-seated desire to find new and innovative ways to create original pieces of art through his application of various mediums. His desire, both to depict the lives of individuals on the fringes of society and situations from his own personal experiences, is now at the core of his artistic style.
You will witness this while observing the gracefulness of his application of materials and color. His work is both organic and energetic, a feast for the eyes. Roman Alexei works tirelessly in his own studio space at Opia Contemporary Art Gallery and now is the time to add a beautiful piece to your collection. He will be showing a selection of his amazing body of work right here in Jana’s RedRoom in the iconic Arts Factory.

Yvette LaForceYvette LaForce – an Abstract Expressionist, she was born an artist. Painting her way to sleep at night as a child using only her little fingers as brushes. Making her canvas as wide as her arms could reach. She found that painting was much easier for her to do than to communicate verbally. Selling her first painting in high school gave her the knowledge that she could be paid for her works. The most intense and fascinating time in her life, as an artist, was when she was accepted by Knox Martin, to paint directly under him at the Art Students League in New York City. Yvette is now back in her hometown of Las Vegas Nevada. The beautiful place where she was born and raised.

Our Premium Wall Artists:

mandy joyMandy Joy – works in many styles. Modern impressionism is what she enjoys the most and abstract art is also a great outlet for her. Mandy’s realism works will make you take a step back with their beauty and detail. She makes use of an exaggerated perspective in many of her paintings, especially on cars and landscape scenes. She works with high quality materials and enjoys working in bright colors. Every month she has a need to create in all three of these formats. She is always expanding her portfolio and takes commissions. Acrylics are her favorite medium, but she also works with spray paint, pen, colored pencil and in airbrush as well.

m hengeveldMichele Hengeveld – “For me, photography is a freedom to view the world, and create that special moment in time in my own artistic way. To have fun and adventure while creating each intimate image. I enjoy life and everything it has to offer. Why not share it?”
Michele was featured on the Today Show! The segment was “Chasing your Dream Job”. “Everybody knows photography is my dream job! I want and hope to make your photography experience relaxing, fun, and unique. As a photographer, I specialize in Weddings, Engagements, Musicians, Live Shows, Burlesque, Portraiture, Commercial/Head Shots Special Events and Fine Art”. She also is the HOST of Dr. Sketchy’s Las Vegas. Photography has, is and will always be Michele’s love and passion.

loretta degrandisLoretta DeGrandis – has been involved in Las Vegas art scene for some time now. She has degrees in Studio and Visual Arts, also in Psychology. This gives her a perspective we can see in her art. Being a professor of art at CSN, she can translate her feelings to the canvas, in oils, striking a balance. Living things have consciousness, we are all connected through color, shape, form and aesthetic. It is about sharing the oxygen and each creating a certain beauty to enhance mankind and the universe.“I and My Village: The District”, is a painting from a series to celebrate artists that influence her work. Using the artist Marc Chagall’s work where his influence was religion and community. She used cats to create their own village of whimsy and showing their amazing mystery.

maryann fergusen MaryAnn Fergusen – “I grew up in Hawaii where vivid colors were a natural part of my life. Each bright color kindles inside of me a special kind of joy and excitement for living. Orange reminds me of picking guavas with my best friend early in the morning, blue recalls the bliss of bodysurfing at Makapuu Beach, yellow is the hot Hawaiian sun warming me, and so on. My first connection with creating art to express myself was in 4th grade. My teacher was displeased that I created a collage that included, but was not limited to, her guidelines. I was shocked to learn that thinking for myself was not always rewarded. I was not discouraged. The art movement in the 60’s, made me feel right at home and confirmed for me that there was and is a place in this world for my art.” MaryAnn is the Director of Jana’s RedRoom’s own Las Vegas International Juried Art Competition.

Our Deluxe Wall Artists:

These artists can be seen on the walls in the Arts Factory, be sure to check them out.

larry keenanLarry Keenan – “Most people remember playing with crayons at a young age, but it wasn’t until the third grade that I was introduced to a higher level of art; finger paints! My teacher put a piece of paper on my desk and three small bottles of paint. She told me to do whatever I wanted and away I went! That was the best day in school I ever had!  Although color is considered of prime importance in painting, I put more emphasis on values and shapes. I use a lot of paint and multiple layers to create a beautiful balance and harmony within my work. By using large brushes I leave details and subject matter to the viewer’s imagination. Lines and textures are often incorporated in my work, as well as drips, pours and splashes of paint. I am not a purist. I’ll use anything and everything to create a work of art. I like to use several different techniques to provide emotion and action for the viewer. Knowing when to stop is the most difficult part in creating a work of art. Often, I have to ask myself, “Is a painting really ever finished?” I have my doubts; let’s see what you think?”

niki sandsNiki J Sands – “My art is an expression of my life, my thoughts and how the world effects me on a daily basis. I grew up with high admiration for artists and the arts. Life without art would be a blank canvas. Pablo Picasso once said “There are painters who transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others with the help of their art and their intelligence who transform a yellow spot into the sun.” Niki J Sands is a self-taught painter who creatively uses her imagination, intelligence and introspection to transform her “spots” of thought and time into intriguing expressions of the worlds around and within us. Niki began her artistic journey as so many incredible artists before her, with a simple love for art in all forms…music, dance, painting and sculpture. “I truly paint from within. My art is inseparably bound up by my personality and soul!”

marci aguilarMarci Aguilar – This will be my first time showing my photography and my lapel pins that I call ‘The Rock Solid Hearts Club’. My photography is a way to bring floral photography into new light with a dreamlike style to it. I’ve always been fascinated with bringing myself to look at the smaller details and extreme colors that nature provides and share it with anyone! –‘The Rock Solid Hearts Club’ is a small geometric heart that’s created with a mold and cement. They are meant for the person to wear with a small secret or thought for themselves but to show and share with anyone who wears one as well. For example, when I wear mine, I’m reminded of my cat who passed away last year..it’s a way to keep her close to me and show with pride my love I had for her.”

kyle okiex copyKyle Okiec – will be showing his photography. “I am a landscape and night photographer. I’ve been photographing for about 8 years. In that time photography has become important to me. It’s the only thing I do really. Besides eat, breathe and listen to music. I work at a camera store and in my spare time, when I have spare time, I make photographs. I photograph in both color and black and white and I don’t limit myself to one medium. My photographs are moody and typically involve darker elements. I’ll be showing brand new work – a small collection of photographs Ive taken over the past couple of years.”

joni doubenmierJoni Doubenmier – born in Spearville, a rural farming community in Southwest Kansas. As a child was always creating something. Joni was especially obsessed with puff paint when it emerged! Yes, puff paint! Always evolving, so did the obsessions; moving from puff paints, to acrylics and oils, to her true voice as an artist, RESIN. Hooked the first time she worked with it, she continues to be mezmerized by the depth and uniqueness of each piece created. Her work is primarily abstract and is the result of her need to paint and create; it is an outlet and her greatest passion. Each piece contains a piece of herself, fueled by a desire to live a fulfilling, positive and happy life. “My wish is to create images that express themselves without the need for words. I am always inspired by the responses and the visions that I receive from those who love my creations as much as I do”.

We are constantly amazed at the talent in the 18b, the Arts District surely is abundant. When you think you have heard about everything, yes, we are having a Designer Show June 17th and the Fashion Show “Fortifying Authentic Beauty, is just what #FAB is all about”, save the date, stay tuned.
